How many Korean restaurants are there in the U.S.?

As of January 2026, there are 4,586 Korean restaurants in the U.S., mainly concentrated in coastal markets, major metropolitan areas, and cities with large Korean and Asian populations, creating a clear pattern of regional clustering.

Where are Korean restaurants located in the U.S.?

The distribution of Korean restaurants in the U.S. shows a strong regional concentration pattern. California (CA) on the West Coast is the most concentrated market for Korean food in the country, especially in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Supported by large Korean and Asian communities, these markets form the largest Korean dining cluster in the U.S.

In Washington (WA), Seattle and its surrounding cities also maintain a stable and mature market for Korean dining.

On the East Coast, New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ) are also major concentration areas for Korean cuisine. Both states benefit from large Korean immigrant communities and highly international consumer markets, helping Korean restaurant counts remain consistently high. Virginia (VA), supported by the greater Washington, D.C. metro area, has also become one of the fastest-growing Korean restaurant markets on the East Coast.

In the South and Central U.S., states such as Texas (TX), Georgia (GA), and Illinois (IL), supported by population growth and increasingly diverse communities, have also seen continued expansion in Korean restaurant count. By contrast, the Midwest and some inland states have relatively fewer Korean restaurants overall, although Korean dining still maintains a stable presence in major cities.

Top 5 U.S. States by Korean Restaurant Count

  1. California (CA) accounts for 27.56% of all Korean restaurants in the U.S., with 1,264 locations.
  2. New York (NY) accounts for 9.11% of all Korean restaurants in the U.S., with 418 locations.
  3. Texas (TX) accounts for 8.55% of all Korean restaurants in the U.S., with 392 locations.
  4. Georgia (GA) accounts for 5.21% of all Korean restaurants in the U.S., with 239 locations.
  5. New Jersey (NJ) accounts for 4.54% of all Korean restaurants in the U.S., with 208 locations.

Together, these five states account for 55.00% of all Korean restaurants in the U.S., representing more than half of the national total.

Distribution Highlights

Based on the current geographic distribution of Korean restaurants in the U.S., several key trends stand out:

1. Major metro areas are the core markets for Korean dining.

Cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Seattle, and Atlanta have some of the highest Korean restaurant counts in the country, showing a strong urban concentration effect.

2. States with larger Korean and Asian populations tend to have more Korean restaurants.

This pattern is especially clear in California, Washington, New Jersey, and Virginia.

3. Tech-driven cities and younger consumer bases are helping expand Korean dining.

Markets such as the Bay Area, Seattle, Boston, and Austin have younger and more globally exposed consumers, supporting greater diversity in Korean restaurant formats.

4. Americanized Korean dining categories are expanding rapidly.

Korean BBQ, Korean fried chicken, army stew, and related concepts have helped Korean food reach beyond traditional Korean communities.

5. Tourism-heavy cities also support strong demand for Korean food.

Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, and Orlando all show relatively high Korean restaurant density, supported in part by large visitor volumes.
